Welcome to Ondekaremba

Nature’s paradise close to airport (7 km) and Windhoek (40 km)

The Ondekaremba farm was founded in 1900. The early years were marked by hardship, particularly water shortages. Silent witnesses to this period still stand today: the old windmill and the former farmhouse – now the heart of Ondekaremba. Over the years, cattle, goats and later Karakul sheep shaped the farm, while the construction of the railway in 1922 brought new life to the area – at that time with a well-frequented shop. In 1961, part of the land was expropriated for the construction of the international airport.

With Namibia’s independence in 1990 and the boom in tourism, Ondekaremba transformed from a cattle farm to a guest farm and later to a lodge. Since 2011, it has been part of a partnership with Waterberg Wilderness and Ghaub that combines tourism with nature conservation. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ondekaremba was leased to a road construction company – a measure that ensured its survival but left the property in need of renovation. Now, under the umbrella of ONE Namibia, Ondekaremba is beginning a new chapter.
