Die ersten Jahre waren gepr\u00e4gt von Entbehrungen, insbesondere Wassermangel. Stumme Zeugen dieser Zeit stehen noch heute: das alte Windrad und das fr\u00fchere Farmhaus \u2013 heute das Herzst\u00fcck von Ondekaremba. Im Laufe der Jahre pr\u00e4gten Rinder, Ziegen und sp\u00e4ter Karakulschafe die Farm, w\u00e4hrend mit dem Bau der Eisenbahn 1922 neues Leben einkehrte \u2013 damals mit einem gut besuchten Laden. 1961 wurde ein Teil des Landes f\u00fcr den Bau des Internationalen Flughafens enteignet.<\/p>\r\n<p>Mit Namibias Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit 1990 und dem Aufschwung des Tourismus wandelte sich Ondekaremba von einer Rinderfarm zu einer G\u00e4stefarm und sp\u00e4ter zur Lodge. Seit 2011 ist es Teil einer Partnerschaft mit Waterberg Wilderness und Ghaub, die Tourismus mit Naturschutz verbindet. W\u00e4hrend der Covid-19-Pandemie wurde Ondekaremba an ein Stra\u00dfenbauunternehmen verpachtet \u2013 eine Ma\u00dfnahme, die das \u00dcberleben sicherte, das Anwesen jedoch erneuerungsbed\u00fcrftig zur\u00fccklie\u00df.
